Universities, R&D Groups and Academic Networks

HUCAPP is a unique forum for universities, research groups and research projects to present their research and scientific results, be it by presenting a paper, hosting a tutorial or instructional course or demonstrating its research products in demo sessions, by contributing towards panels and discussions in the event's field of interest or by presenting their project, be it by setting up an exhibition booth, by being profiled in the event's web presence or printed materials or by suggesting keynote speakers or specific thematic sessions.

Special conditions are also available for Research Projects which wish to hold meetings at INSTICC events.

GCG - Group for Computer Graphics, Image and Vision


The GCG - Group for Computer Graphics, Image and Vision, created in 2007, has interests on the research and development of themes related to image processing, computer vision and computer graphics. Our current main research areas are: visualization of tensor and scalar fields; human action recognition from videos; modeling, simulation and visualization of carbon nanotubes; and Virtual and augmented reality.

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)


The story of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) can be traced back to the founding of the Government Trade School in 1937. Now PolyU has 31,864 graduates per year (2014/2015) with 1,199 academic staff and over HK$1,832.2 million of research funding (2014/2015). PolyU takes pride in offering a wide range of quality programmes which nurture graduates who are critical thinkers, effective communicators, innovative problem solvers, lifelong learners and ethical leaders. Escuela Politécnica Nacional (EPN)


The Escuela Politécnica Nacional (EPN) is a public university in Ecuador. EPN was founded on 1869 as the first Ecuadorian center of polytechnic teaching and scientific research. The main campus encompasses ten teaching and research faculties, in addition to four technical and specialized institutes. EPN motto is “E scientia hominis salus”, meaning science for the benefit of humanity. EPN is known for research in both pure science and applied science. An emblematic example is the PhD Program in Informatics, the first of its class in Ecuador, whose current main research areas are:  software engineering, information systems, human-computer interaction, intelligent systems, image processing, natural language processing, voice processing, and information security.
