Workshops

The purpose of workshops is to provide a more interactive and focused platform for presenting and discussing new and emerging ideas. The format of paper presentations may include oral presentations, poster presentations, keynote lectures and panels. Depending on the number of presentations, workshops can be scheduled for 1 day or 2 days. All accepted papers will be published in a special section of the conference proceedings book, under an ISBN reference, and on digital support. All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. SCITEPRESS is a member of CrossRef and every paper is given a DOI (Digital Object Identifier). The proceedings are submitted for indexation by SCOPUS, Google Scholar, DBLP, Semantic Scholar, EI and Web of Science / Conference Proceedings Citation Index.

Scope

The ViBRANT workshop brings together researchers from diverse scientific backgrounds to advance video-based Assistive and Active Living (AAL) technology, with a focus on real-world applications in care settings. It promotes the significance of integrating technological advancements with user studies, legal considerations, and the needs of the healthcare sector. The workshop welcomes participation from academia, medical professionals, care providers, and industry partners interested in AAL. Its primary objective is to foster an interdisciplinary research community that explores the latest advancements in video-based AAL, including practical applications and methodologies for evaluating potential benefits and risks in healthcare and care environments.

Scope

Augmented Reality has emerged in recent years as a valuable guidance tool especially in minimally invasive surgery. A correct superimposition of the virtual organ reconstructions on the real organs in the patient's body requires an accurate registration, which needs to be constantly updated by means of a tracking procedure that monitors the position and orientation of the real objects.
Virtual models can be reconstructed from diagnostic images of the patient through segmentation, which enables the recognition of specific anatomical structures, such as organs, tissues or blood vessels.
STRARiS workshop aims to gather new papers reporting both new methodologies and specific application cases in segmentation, registration and tracking as enabling technologies for augmented reality in surgery and surgical training.
